Many of the doctors at Waiuku Health Centre have been vocationally registered. Vocational Registration means that the doctor has completed their medical training, additional training to become a GP and finally has qualified to become a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (GP).

Being not vocationally registered means that the doctor has completed their medical training but is in the process of either completing their additional training or qualifying for the membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Born and bred in NZ, I grew up in Te Atatu, West Auckland and attended Rutherford High School and Auckland Medical School, graduating in1988.
I gained valuable experience as a junior doctor at Thames, Greenlane and Palmerston North Hospitals before completing a diploma in Obstetrics and traveling overseas.
Between 1991 and 1993 I worked as a SHO in England and Australia and returned to NZ in 1994 to enter the GP training program.
Waiuku became my new home town and I'm proud to have worked as a GP in Waiuku for 20 years.
Married to Allie, we have a 15 year old son Daniel. I like time spent outdoors with family, hiking, swimming and running, sketching, reading about nature and philosophy.
I enjoy all aspects of general practice and have developed a lead role as the teacher for GP trainees at Waiuku Health Centre. One of five Partners, I currently have the title of Practice CEO.
I am very proud to work alongside a team of positive and resourceful colleagues and staff, meeting the challenge of health care.

General Practice was my calling and I was always keen to come back to my community to work. Following postgraduate training years in Tauranga Hospital, Middlemore and Auckland Hospitals and then the GP training programme I was very please to join the Waiuku Medical Team in 2001 -almost 15 years ago!
I have completed diplomas and have special interest in Paediatrics and Gynaecology and also enjoy working with high needs and underprivileged populations and youth. Currently I am involved as a teacher of GP trainees at the Waiuku Health Centre.
My outside interests include spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities, running and fitness.

I studied at the University of the Free State, in South Africa and gained my degree in Medicine in November 1999. The first 5 years of my career I worked in a small hospital in Potchefstroom. Here I honed my skills as a very competent generalist, working in all disciplines of medicine, learning surgical skills and managing trauma. I moved into working as a GP when we moved to a new town. This was the start of an exciting new pathway for me!

My family and I immigrated to New Zealand in January 2009. Due to NZ Medical Council policies I needed to learn to navigate the NZ Medical system. I passed all the required exams and was registered a House Officer in May 2013. I worked for the Auckland City Hospital for 6 months as a House Officer but due to my past experience and intention to work in General Practice the Medical Council allowed me to work under supervision in Waiuku. I am now continuing the academic momentum by completing my vocational training.

Since arriving in New Zealand we have lived in the Franklin locality.
We have not looked back and despite the challenges we faced and are thrilled to call New Zealand our home!
